John Wayne
I was wondering what film star was the most popular in the American Movie Classics roll of great movies. I got my answer faster than you could say, John Wayne. That’s right the tall, lanky six-foot-four Wayne is an all-time winner.

He’s still such a popular favorite that AMC named their Wednesday series of movies, "Waynes-days" and are featuring three months of his best films. He’s still aces high with the public, and it is truly amazing when you realize the Duke died June 11, 1979.

Dennis Quaid is also a fan, and he’s the host for the Wayne marathon of movies. Just as Tom Mix was the Duke’s idol growing up, the Duke was Quaid’s hero. He’d go to a Saturday matinee, and see one of Wayne’s cowboy movies, and then Quaid would walk out of the theater trying to imitate that angled walk Wayne made so famous. "I was day-dreaming about being a cowboy," Quaid admitted.
